At UNGA 2024, the Lawyers Hub was proudly represented by our CEO, Linda Bonyo. Linda delivered a compelling speech at the headline event, the ‘Summit of the Future’ Interactive Dialogue session titled ‘Towards a Common Digital Future: Strengthening Inclusive Innovation and Cooperation to Bridge the Digital Divides’. Key Highlights from Linda Bonyo’s Speech
In her address, Linda Bonyo highlighted the ongoing challenges and disparities between big tech companies and startups in Africa. She emphasized the importance of empowering local startups to foster growth and innovation. Linda also showcased the impactful work of the Lawyers Hub and expressed strong support for the Global Digital Compact, particularly its commitments to empowering micro and small businesses within the digital economy.
Linda further addressed the critical issue of visa regimes and mobility, stating, “Despite representing the vast majority of the world’s population, professionals from Africa, Latin America, and Asia frequently face disproportionate barriers when attempting to engage or participate in critical conversations about technology and governance.” She offered insightful suggestions to bridge the digital divide and enhance global cooperation.

The Summit of the Future: A Vision for Global Cooperation
The Summit of the Future aims to reaffirm commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Charter. It seeks to enhance cooperation and lay the foundations for a strengthened multilateral system. The summit will culminate in a negotiated Pact for the Future, an action-oriented document designed to bolster global cooperation and adapt to current challenges for the benefit of all and future generations.
