
Megan Kathure is a lawyer with particular interest in International Trade,
Technology, Media, and Telecommunications. She is passionate about
conducting research on the intersection of the law with technology, digital
rights, data and internet governance. She has worked with regional think
tanks in Africa such as Africa Digital Rights Hub where she was involved in
conducting research, collating and reviewing Data Protection Laws in
Africa and translating the contents of the laws into a live map. Ms Kathure
has served as an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
(ICANN) ICANN73 Fellow, an E4E Fellow- E4E being a non-profit focusing
on tech policy advocacy-to-action around emerging technologies for
emerging markets (E4E) and currently serves as a Partnership Lead for East
Africa at Afronomics Law. Ms Kathure has authored various papers on
emergent concerns of digitization such as Africa’s digital sovereignty,
regulating digital lenders, has engaged with the .ke Registry Manager in
internal policy formulation and has actively contributed to Kenya’s ISOC’s
activities by shedding light on distinct topics such as encryption.
