
Brian is a Kenyan Legal professional with a keen interest in analysing the interplay between the African Legal field and the fast-growing Digital Economy. He specialises in Tech-Law, I.P Law, Media Law and Corporate Law. Brian has been involved in Diplomacy and International Law affairs, having previously worked in the Legal Office of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). At UNON, he was involved in International Dispute proceedings held at the United Nations Dispute Tribunal (UNDT). Here he also consulted on Treaty Law and Public Law.
Brian has been involved in the legislative drafting process of innovationcentred bills such as the Agriculture Mechanisation Bill of 2021, during his time at the Ministry of Agriculture. Maera is a data protection lawyer who provides legal consultancy services on Data Protection compliance. He also practices Entertainment law in matters related to royalty negotiation and drafting of music publishing contracts.
Brian is a Co-founder at Sheria Online which is a Legal Tech startup that
seeks to bridge the Access to Justice gap in Kenya, by leveraging the
power of technology in providing legal services e.g. through automation of
client interaction to ease access to justice. He is a tech enthusiast who
dabbles in website coding and design as a hobby. He is also a passionate
researcher & writer on the emerging areas of Law.
